Werle Concerto #2 clips - 1st Movement
These are clips from the Concerto #2, written by Floyd Werle for Doc Severinsen in the early 70's.
In the fall of '02, Randol Bass, director of the Metropolitan Winds of Dallas, approached me about reviving this 25 minute "tour du force" hybrid of Jazz and Classical music with his ensemble.
That was the start of a wonderful friendship with Randy, marked by several performances of this piece at both the '03 TMEA conference in San Antonio and at the Meyerson in Dallas, in addition to a performance with the Utah State Wind Symphony, led by Thomas Roher. Here are some of the highlights from those concerts.
